We provide frameworks for dealing with change in hopes of enhancing the quality, safety, and stability of the community.<\/p>\n<p>We try to stay close to local issues as a voice and advocate for achieving positive outcomes regarding housing, zoning, relations with the City, etc. The Committee of Adjustment is one example of an adjudicative body of the City we interact with on a regular basis.<\/p>\n<h2>Key Activities<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>City Policy on Severance and Demolitions<\/strong> \u2014 We monitor and respond to applications that affect the character of our neighbourhood.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Town and Gown Committee<\/strong> \u2014 OUNRA participates in the committee that manages the relationship between the University of Guelph and the surrounding community.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Committee of Adjustment<\/strong> \u2014 We regularly appear before the City&#8217;s Committee of Adjustment to represent residents&#8217; interests on minor variance and consent applications.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Heritage Conservation<\/strong> \u2014 We advocate for the Brooklyn and College Hill Heritage Conservation District.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Urban Forest<\/strong> \u2014 We work to protect and expand Guelph&#8217;s urban forest canopy within our neighbourhood boundaries.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Official Plan<\/strong> \u2014 We participate in City of Guelph Official Plan reviews and neighbourhood planning consultations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Stay Informed<\/h2>\n<p>The best way to stay current on OUNRA&#8217;s advocacy work is to attend our <a href=\"\/events\/\">general meetings<\/a> and subscribe to our <a href=\"\/newsletters\/\">bi-annual newsletter<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We Address Local Issues OUNRA is active in addressing local issues that affect the Old University Neighbourhood.
